I have updated this tutorial to a better script to fix the issues with it.
Its also a lot faster now.

Thanks to Ion-cube for bringing up the idea of focusing on the quick reply textbox. i don't know why it never occured to me.

If you have the original script installed, then i'd recommend updating to the new one Wink

The function is executed when you click on the quote image. It's parent Node is the link to the quote post page. So this.parentNode.href gets the quote link. The quote link is needed for the ajax call.

Hello LG

Somehow the code in the 1st post isn't working for me. I have pasted the code into the javascript management thing and it's still not working.

Have you made sure all your other Javascripts are valid? Because if one script crashes they all do, since they are bungled into one by FM.

If so, then provide your URL, so i can take a quick look if you want.

This is interesting

Instead of the quick reply thing , When someone click on the " quote " button, it automatically puts the quoted tags and the post in the quick reply box without taking you to another post.

Forgive me if that's what the code is intended for lol, but thats what its doing in my forum. Brilliant feature nevertheless

And to answer your question, yea javascript is valid. I will PM you my link after your next reply

Thanks for taking the time to answer

Thats exactly what it is supposed to do Wink
hence the title of this tutorial 'Quote Post in Quick Reply', i suggest you read the first post again haha.

If that is what it is doing on your forum, then it is working fine.
