Features of this board

1. The Facebook style bar.
You may have noticed, that at the bottom of this forum there is a blue bar, which looks very facebook-like.
This bar has some cool features.
- First of all furthest to the left is a friends list, the friend list shows the friends avatar, username and even links to their profile. Infact it is an exact replica of that found on the profile page. I first made this for someone as a Widget on another board.
- Second, the Notifications box. Now this is a beauty. This will show (NEW) when you have new notifications, and clicking on it will bring up the notice box. This will then show you all your notifications. Notifications include a New Friend Request and a New post on your wall (one day i plan to add new PM, or a reply to a topic your watching). For friend requests, it will even say who has requested. With new wall messages, it will even say who has posted on your wall. And of course clicking on the notification, takes you to the correct place. This can also be made as a wudget or a feature on its own.
- Third the chat in bottom right. This is just the standard forumotion chatbox, but whats great is it shows you how many people are in there chatting. It also logs you in automatically when you click it. There is a tutorial in the tutorial section of how to make this chatbox (however the exmaple in the tutorial is styled differently, and minus the auto-login).
- Fourth, there is an 'Update Your Status' box. This clever little thing will allow you to update your status from any page of the forum. Your current status, will show up under your avatar on posts. This feature is available seperate too.



Linked Post Numbers.
As you can see on this board, the post numbering is all linked directly to the post they are on. They are all unique links to that exact post.
So if you wanted to link someone to a thread, but to a certain post, you can send them the link to the actual post. Meaning when they visit that page, that post will be at the top of the screen.
A free version of this script is provided in the free tutorials and codes section, its the same but without the links. The linked version will be shared in a Special Access area of this forum

'Add as Friend' Link
The 'Add as Friend' link you see on post profiles on this board, is now actually a free option, which you can find in free tutorials and codes. However its possible to alternative/variations of this link.('User' would be the actual user's name) For example 'Visit User's Wall', 'Contact User' ,'PM User', 'Search All Posts By User' .... stuff like this.

User ID in Post Profiles
If the User ID is something you use a lot in your forum then this feature would be handy. Take a look in the post profiles on this board, and you'll see it includes the posters user id.


Brand New Guest Pop Up Box
You may have noticed when you first visited this forum, the box which popped up. This is my own remake of the lowsy pop up box forumotion offers us. Making our own, allows us to make it more advanced.
To refresh your memory, here it is again (this picture is of the old one from a while back):

It has the unqiue design which matches the forum' personally i'm a guy of simple tastes.
- The Register button, takes the user to the register page.
- The red close button obviously closes the box.
- The 'Don't Display Again' button, sets a cookie, to prevent the box from displaying again.
- and the log in button, well, this button makes the text in the middle change to this:

Of course allowing the user to log in.

10. Member Alerts Pop Up
This feature is a variation of the Guest Pop Up, as this one pops up for members. It displays alerts, or notifications or whatever you wish to tell your members. You will have seen it when you first logged into this forum, and maybe more if you didnt click 'don't display again'. Here are some images to refresh your memory, though these images are actually of the old one quite a while back, its had some changes made to its design since then:

Of course, the 'Previous' button didnt show up on the first Alert, and the 'Next' button didn't appear on the last alert.
Clicking the red 'Close' button closes the box allowing a user to read them later, clicking 'Don't Display Again' closes the box and it will not come up next time the user logs in. When i want to alert of new alerts is easy to do this despite people clicking ''don't display again'. The box can contain anything, links, images, tables etc... And of course can be styled to look more like your forum.
You can find this feature in the free tutorials section now, also with a nice explanation of how it works.

11. Skip the 'Post Succesful' page
Probably one of the most sought after features on forumotion. If you have posted on this forum using the LG-QuickReply, you'll realise that there is no page which says 'Your message has been posted successfully', it just goes straight back to the topic.
This can be installed to the forumotion quick reply, or to the other posting pages (but quick reply is easiest).

Added a new feature today. I hope you all like it.

Clicking the Edit button in the top corner of posts, will now allow you to edit your post in the Quick Reply box. When you click the Edit button, you should (IE has a problem which needs fixed) be taken to the bottom of the page where the Quick Reply box is,and you will see your post in the box. When you click send, you will have edited your post.

Tony, I don't believe this will be updated at this time. Although, please be patient, I'm sure if I'm wrong, LG will be by to correct me.

There is new script installed on this board for that which skips that page on all the editors.
